When you use Rewrite to rewrite text, we temporarily process your selected text through our AI service. Your text is never stored on our servers. It is processed in real-time and immediately discarded after the rewritten version is returned to you.

2.2 Anonymous Usage Data

We collect minimal anonymous usage data to improve our service:

• User ID: A randomly generated UUID stored locally in your browser to track usage patterns anonymously
• Request metadata: Timestamp, text length, detected platform (e.g., Slack, Gmail), tone preferences
• Technical data: Extension version, request duration, success/error rates
• IP address: Used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention, not linked to your identity

2.3 What We DON'T Collect

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Account credentials or login information
• Browsing history or URLs beyond platform detection
• Cookies or tracking pixels
• Any information that can personally identify you

The information we collect is used solely to:

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

Your User ID and preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly sync Chrome settings across devices.

We maintain server logs containing anonymous request metadata for up to 30 days for debugging and analytics purposes.

5.1 AI Processing

We do not share your data with advertisers, analytics companies, or any other third parties beyond OpenAI's necessary AI processing.

6. Data Retention

• Text content: Immediately discarded after processing (not stored)
• Request logs: Retained for 30 days, then automatically deleted
• User ID: Stored locally in your browser until you uninstall the extension

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Data Access

Since we don't store personal information, there is no personal data to access or export.

7.2 Data Deletion

Uninstalling the Rewrite extension will immediately remove all locally stored data from your browser. Server logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

You can stop using our service at any time by uninstalling the extension from your browser.
